Ecotones Duet Sleep Sound Machine

The Ecotones Duet Sleep Sound Machine is a very well designed and built sound therapy machine.  It provides excellent sound with a separate woofer and tweeter mounted on top. A microphone in the front panel listens for room sound and makes immediate adjustments to sound levels.

Unlike lesser quality units, which typically use a digital recording that keeps repeating and soon proves annoying, these recordings which Ecotones calls a sound story, will go on for thirty minutes before repeating.   Can you discern when a sound story finishes and starts up again?  Well, I could not.

There are several different sounds to choose from including something called city... so an inner city dweller who is away from home can feel right at home!  However, the ever popular meadow, brook, crackling fireplace, waterfall and ocean sounds are all extremely soothing.  For something different, try the train (yes, train!), and a sound selection called meditation. There also is a plain vanilla white noise setting, if you wish.

The response feature, whereupon a microphone picks up ambient sounds (such as snoring) adjusts the volume accordingly and works extremely well.

A unique feature to Ecotones is the richness setting. For example, adjusting this on the rainfall sound story will generate different sounds: using no richness setting the rainfall sound is plain and simple; each additional richness setting adds new, different sounds.  A nice feature allowing you to customize your own personal sound stories.

The Ecotones Duet Sleep Sound Machine is the sound therapy machine that I have decided to keep and I use it every night.  It's a fantastic sleep aid.
